Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about working at Neighbors Bank.

Do you offer health insurance and other benefits?

We offer a couple of health insurance tiers you/your dependents can opt into based on what best fits your needs. All plans are affordable and competitive. We also offer 401K, PTO (120 hours to start), a roster of paid holidays, volunteer hours (to give back in your local community), 8 fully covered therapy/counseling/coaching sessions for you or your household to use, and much more! We'll ensure you receive comprehensive details about our benefits if you accept the position. But basically: our benefits are awesome.

It's a remote company but do we ever see each other?

We use Slack for most of our day-to-day connection points. It's easy to learn and use, so if you're new to the platform, don't sweat it. We use lots of video calls, too. We also have an annual company retreat called, 'All In.' The company pays for all team members to gather for a couple days each year. It's optional to attend, but a lot of fun and a great opportunity to hang out and create deeper connections. All expenses covered.

Is it really as flexible as it sounds?

The degree of flexibility at Neighbors Bank is made possible by hiring people who thrive in a remote work setting. Our team members must have strengths relating to time-management, setting and achieving goals, taking initiative, demonstrating self-discipline, staying focused and avoiding distractions while working, and knowing when to ask for help. The expectations of what results you deliver are high, but it is very feasible to succeed if you are passionate about what you are doing in addition to the fact that you will be working with other incredible people to help give you support when needed.

Flexibility is mostly related to where you work and when you work. The where is easy: wherever you have Wi-Fi and can successfully perform. I am typing this from the comfort of my home office, with my commute being a swift 12 steps from where I woke up.

As for when you work, this can vary. There are expectations of how much time you spend each week, although there are weeks when you might spend more or less hours working for a variety of reasons. However, you should expect to put in a relatively consistent number of hours, aligning with a full-time range. This may vary week-to-week, as many conditions may determine how busy you are, so some weeks will be extremely busy while others won't be nearly as busy.

We are committed to flexibility and it is a two-way street. Just as we promote and embrace flexibility, we expect team members to demonstrate flexibility in return.

I have kids. Can they be with me while I work?

All team members must have appropriate childcare organized while working. WFH is simply noting the location — it should not change the quality and commitment to work. We understand random things happen. Sick kid that's home and you still want to hop on and do some work? Sure thing. But on the regular, you need to have appropriate childcare organized. This is a tough job and you'll need to be fully focused when performing your tasks.

If I get the job, will I get a computer?

Yes, a computer, monitors, charger, and all necessary tech will be shipped to you. We'll also include instructions for set-up, and we have a tech team on standby if you run into issues. They have mastered remote support.

Will I get a phone?

We have a phone system that will be included in your computer set-up. It's easy to use and your extension will be loaded and ready to go.

What about internet?

As a remote company, you'll need a strong internet connection and a quiet, private place to work. Remember, you'll be dealing with financial details, so you need to be able to make calls and have sensitive info on your computer without the threat of strangers overhearing or viewing your screen. As an added perk, all team members receive $75/month reimbursement to offset costs associated with working from home.

This job seems too good to be true. What am I missing?

A lot. Our team members love working at Neighbors Bank, but it's not for everyone. The roles in this company are hard with high expectations.

Yes, it can be highly rewarding, but those rewards are hard-earned. You need to be smart, capable, trustworthy, tough, and able to let stuff roll off your back. Things will not go your way sometimes. You must be able to bounce back and let it go — quickly and repeatedly. Here's what we will offer: support, flexibility, strong earning potential, respect, solid benefits, connection, camaraderie, and to be a part of an organization striving to do meaningful things. But please know this in advance, because of our aspirations on what we want to accomplish: this job is extremely tough.

We have high expectations and although we offer plenty of support, coaching, and training, we've learned that the key metric for success comes down to the individual.

So what we're asking is the easiest and hardest thing in the world: be yourself. Trust your instincts. Engage in the process. Don't compete to win (although we love that), but compete for your future success, fulfillment, and happiness. And know it's ok to tap out if you don't think this is the spot for you. We will part as friends and will root for you to find an even better fit for you.

You know yourself far better than we ever could from these brief, early exchanges. We ask that while we assess you to the best of our ability, that you also assess us, the role, and you in it to help determine if your unique skills, self-discipline, approach to work, values, and more align with Neighbors Bank and the role you're pursuing.

If you're out, no problem. This is not for everyone.

But if you think Neighbors Bank could be for you, continue on to learn more about our company culture, values, mission, and more.
